Film

Alpha Technologies has chosen and formulated the finest selection of film to protect die seals and dies from sample contamination, extending seal life and reducing downtime due to cleaning and seal changes. We have two types of film, nylon and polyester, configured to fit the requirements of your instrument and application.

The traditional film Alpha first introduced is a polyester film that offers good protection for dies and is recommended for low strain applications. We do not recommend it for customers using dynamic properties or high strain applications. Our polyester film comes in boxes of 1,000 that are 5.12 in. square X 1 mil thick or in rolls specially designed for our RPA, MDR and PPA automated systems.

For more demanding applications, we offer two types of nylon film. Alpha Technologies nylon film contains a specially formulated heat stabilizer for high temperature applications. Standard nylon film degrades more rapidly and is not recommended for high temperature applications. Our 1 mil nylon film offers better protection of dies and seals than our polyester line. We recommend it for customers using dynamic properties or high strain applications.

Our best film is a 2 mil nylon film. It has all the advantages of our 1 mil film but is recommended for applications using highly abrasive material that may cause heavy contamination of dies. Our nylon film is available in sheets or rolls. Many of our customers use the 2 mil nylon film as the lower sheet and the 1 mil nylon film as the upper sheet. This combination can improve the quality of the dynamic data (S”, G”, Η”, and TanDelta).
