Alpha Technologies Centralizes European Customer Care;
Move Ensures Faster Service to Rubber Industry

Streamlining its European operations for faster response to customer needs, Alpha Technologies is centralizing its customer service and parts-distribution activities in Heilbronn, Germany. A new team of representatives – with fluency in eight different languages in all – has been assembled to provide immediate support to rubber manufacturers and processors across Europe. The move is part of a global rapid-response initiative that involves not only the European site, but also operations in Asia and North America. The program has already reduced new-equipment lead times by 30%.

Headquartered in Akron, Ohio, USA, Alpha is a world leader in the design, manufacture, service and support of precision rubber and polymer laboratory instrumentation, as well as data-acquisition and -analysis software systems.

Alpha will share the Heilbronn facility with its parent company, Dynisco, which manufactures and sells pressure and temperature measurement and control products for plastics extrusion and injection molding, as well as process control and general industrial applications. Alpha will close an older distribution center in Swindon, Wiltshire, in southern England. An existing team of three technicians will continue to provide technical support and calibration services to customers from new offices in nearby Oxford.

“We recognize that the vast majority of our customers are in continental Europe, and this move will allow us to serve them better than ever before,” explains Greg Clark, Vice President, Segment Leader. “We are simplifying logistics management. All of this is good for Alpha Technologies, but it also is great for our customers, who can now expect more rapid response and more personal, focused regional service and support.”

Under the previous structure, products and components destined for continental Europe would be shipped first from the manufacturing plant in the USA to the UK. There they would be redirected to their final destination. The new model takes advantage of the global supply chain services of an international shipping company, which will provide air, ocean and ground transportation, customs clearance and direct delivery to the customer’s door, with all duty and delivery prepaid. A supply of frequently used spare parts will be maintained in Heilbronn.

Alpha Technologies is a multinational, ISO 9001-registered, ISO 17025-accredited firm headquartered in Akron, Ohio, with technical centers and offices worldwide. Founded in 1968 as a division of The Monsanto Company, Alpha became an independent company in 1995. Alpha employs a customer-focused team of approximately 180 highly trained professionals around the world.

Alpha's line of testing instruments includes curemeters (process analyzers and rheometers), viscometers and universal testers, which measure the dynamic, physical and processing characteristics of rubber and polymers. Software products perform data acquisition, analysis and custom reporting from virtually any instrument or production-floor automation device. They can manage recipe and compound development, and provide mixer monitoring and control. Software can support standalone or networked systems and is modular and scalable. All products are backed by AlphaCare service and support products, including customer-site installation, warranty, breakdown response, telesupport, operator/maintenance training, applications and solutions consulting, and a calibration and preventive-maintenance program.

Alpha Technologies is part of Dynisco, the leading provider of accurate, robust and reliable measurement and control solutions for extrusion and other plastics processes where pressure and temperature are critical. The Dynisco Plastics Segment is part of a global organization providing sensing technologies, control equipment and analytical instrumentation for a wide range of industrial applications. The Company has manufacturing facilities in Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, and Malaysia. Dynisco serves a diverse group of customers throughout the world, including OEMs, distributors and end users.
