End-of-Life Announcement for Eclipse Software

Dear Valued Customers,

Alpha Technologies blazed new trails in the rubber testing industry with the 1984 release of its Eclipse software. And while the product reached End of Life in 2012 and active development on the product stopped, it continued to serve Alpha customers reliably, demonstrating Alpha Technologies’ core values & commitment to excellence.

But the time has come to end all technical assistance and support for Eclipse / Daisy.

What Does This Mean for You?

  • End of Support: Starting January 1st, 2025, we will no longer provide technical assistance and support for Eclipse / Daisy.
  • Customer Responsibility: In this final phase of its lifecycle, Eclipse will no longer be covered under Alpha Technologies’ support policies. Customers are encouraged to evaluate their reliance on Eclipse to mitigate any potential software challenges.
  • Transition to Enterprise: We encourage customers to move to Enterprise, which builds on Eclipse’s legacy of delivering cutting-edge capabilities tailored for modern business needs.

Risks of Using Eclipse

While Eclipse has been a reliable solution for decades, continuing to use it beyond its End-of-Life may pose several challenges that could impact your operations, including:

1. Complete Software Inoperability: Eclipse will become completely non-operational after December 31st, 2029, posing a significant risk to your operations if the migration to Enterprise is not completed beforehand.

2. Risk of Data Loss or Corruption: Without updates and bug fixes, Eclipse may be prone to data corruption, integration failures, or loss of critical business information.

3. No Security Updates: without regular security patches, Eclipse may become vulnerable to cybersecurity threats, including malware, data breaches, and system exploits. This could put sensitive business data at risk.

4. Lack of Technical Support: Post-EOL & EOS, Alpha Technologies will no longer provide technical support for Eclipse. Any issues, whether minor glitches or critical failures, will need to be resolved internally, potentially increasing downtime and costs.

5. Performance Degradation: Legacy software often struggles to meet the performance demands of modern workloads, leading to slower processing times and inefficiencies in critical operations.

6. Compliance Challenges: As industry standards and regulatory requirements evolve, Eclipse may no longer meet necessary compliance benchmarks, exposing your organization to legal and financial risks.
